Prostaglandins F1 alpha and E1 were purified from bull semen by column chromatography and identified by their ultraviolet spectrum, Rf value, and biological action on isolated rabbit intestine. The presence of two further prostaglandins of groups A and B was suspected. No difference between fertile and infertile semen was seen with regard to prostaglandin content.
