A cow with acute emphysematous mastitis, not yet gangrenous, recovered after prompt treatment with penicillin plus streptomycin locally and a sulphonamide systemically. The isolate proved to be sensitive to penicillin, streptomycin and chloramphenicol, but resistant to tetracycline and sulphonamide.
