The present studies demonstrated that vanadium at a dose of approx. 11 mg/kg b.m./24 h administered during 4 weeks decreased the phagocytic activity of neutrophils but had no direct effect on MPO and ALP activities. The elucidation of the involved mechanisms requires examination of the effect of vanadium on the activity of other enzymes and proteins which occur in neutrophil granules.
