In 33 ejaculates from 3 AI boars, photo-electric density values with the Eppendorf photometer were highly correlated with haemocytometer sperm counts when boar semen was examined immediately after suspension in 1N HCl (0.96) or 10% NaOH (0.96). When examined 5 min later, the correlations were 0.95 and 0.92 resp.
