Whole-body irradiation of pigs of 100 kg body weight with 200, 450 or 700 rad resulted in an increase in the deoxycytidine in the urine as early as six hours later. This increase was 2-10 times the pre-irradiation content and was proportional to the radiation dosage. The deoxycytidine was isolated by ion exchange chromatography and measured by a thiobarbituric acid reaction.
