The EU conditions for the approval of border inspection posts are explained, as well as the modalities of checking (documentary check, identity check and physical examination) and the information and communication systems (ANIMO, Rapid Alerts, EU Internet). Differences in the procedure between import, transit and some specials are outlined. An overview is given of the volume, kinds of products, origins and the import figures relating to the transit figures. The results of the checks are discussed.
