The 1427 strains isolated from meat, meat products, meat meal and fish meal belonged to 43 serotypes. The commonest were anatum (32% of strains), choleraesuis (26%) and typhimurium (9%). Pig meat yielded 38% of the strains. Serotypes identified in Hungary for the first time were: mission, abony (var. haifa), epicrates, kilwa, menston, havanna, coeln.
