The number of generations, number of gonotrophic cycles and the course of population development between April and the middle of October were determined for Culicoides punctatus (Mg.) (pulicaris punctatus (Mg.)) C. fascipennis Staeg. and C. grisescens Edw., in the Ivanovo Region. The number of generations produced in a season and (in brackets) the number of gonotrophic cycles for females was 2-3 (3) for C. punctatus, 2(3) for C. fascipennis and 1(4) for C. grisescens. The highest percentage of females that had oviposited 2-3 times was found in August, when the population was still relatively high. A considerable number of females of C. grisescens of older age groups appeared in late August and early September, when the population had greatly declined.
