Trichophyton simii. Its occurrence in Brazil

A case report of T. simii infection in a 20-yr-old white girl living on a farm is presented. The source of infection could not be traced. Other members of the family were examined and Microsporum nanum infection was diagnosed in a 16-yr-old boy. Other fungi isolated included M. gypseum from a dog and M. gypseum, T. ajelloi and M. cookei from soil.
