Persistent trichophyton tonsurans infection

The case is presented on a 57-yr-old woman who had patches of scaling of her scalp for 14 yr from which T. tonsurans had been isolated. The patient had been unsuccessfully treated with griseofulvin because of faulty absorption of the antibiotic; this was due to administration of barbiturates for 20 yr for petit mal, which she had had since childhood.
