In Brazil, 84 patients infected with Schistosoma mansoni were given a single intramuscular injection of a lyophilized preparation of hycanthone methane-sulphonate at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 or 3.0 mg. per kg. body-weight. 36 other patients received enteric-coated tablets orally at similar dose levels for 5 days. The minimum effective dose was 1.5 mg. per kg.
