An enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) is described for the detection of antibodies to Babesia bovis in cattle using a partially purified antigen. The optimum conditions required to perform the test were determined and 210 serum samples were comparatively tested using ELISA and indirect immunofluorescence (IFA) tests, finding a diagnostic coincidence of 96.1%, a relative sensitivity of 96%, and a relative specificity of 96.4%.
