Schistosoma japonicum adult worm or egg extracts were used as antigens in an immunoelectrophoretic study of sera of 35 labourers in the hyperendernic area of Palo, Leyte, Philippines. Most of the men were positive for S. japonicum eggs in the faeces. At 3 known periods during the 7 to 8 months of serum collection, these labourers were presumably reexposed to cercariae because of work in streams that contained Oncomelania quadrasi.
