Protein-free serum equivalent to 0.5 ml serum was mixed with 0.2 ml 1% metamizol (sodium 1-phenyl-2, 3-dimethyl-5-pyrazolone-4-methylaminomethane-sulphonate) and 1 ml reagent containing 10 g (NH4)2 MoO4 and 30 ml H2SO4in 200 ml. Absorbance was measured at 680 nm within 15 min. Fresh urine usually diluted 100-fold, 2 ml, plus 3 ml water was similarly examined; protein was removed if necessary.
