An original technic for the preparation of an injectable solution of sodium dantrolene from oral capsules (Dantralen) or from the pure substance

For the moment, in Spain, dantrolene is only marketed in oral capsules, and since the intravenous administration of this drug is essential in the treatment of malignan(hyperthermia, we have developed a simple way of using the active base in powder, or the content of the oral capsules, in a solution adequate to be given by the intravenous route. In the first case, the concentration found was 333 mg/I, with a pH of 9,85 and an osmolarity of 312 mOs/I, whereas in the second case the concentration was 287,1 mg/I with a pH of 9,87 and an osmolarity of 316 mOs/1. This results suggest that our solution is adequate for the intravenous route.
