Successful treatment of malignant hyperthermia with dantrolene-sodium and uneventful re-anaesthesia after oral dantrolene-prophylaxis

Prior to the introduction of dantrolene-sodium, mortality following malignant hyperthermia was reported to be 60% and was considered the most frequent cause of death from anesthesia in the USA. The successful therapy of a hyperthermic episode with dantrolene-sodium and an uneventful reanesthesia after oral prophylaxis with dantrolene of the same patient are reported.
