Mast cells disappeared from the peritoneal fluid of rats at about 10 days after the animals had been injected subcutaneously with 2, 000 Nippostrongylus brasiliensis larvae and were still absent at 30 days. Mast cells did not re-appear even by day 35 when tetrachlorethylene at 2 ml. per kg. body-weight was given 10 days after infection to remove the worms.
