The effect of anaprilin on the central and peripheral hemodynamics of patients with hypertension

A study of 38 patients with hypertensive disease revealed that anaprilin is an effective hypotensive agent. Administration of anaprilin (120-160 mg daily) produced a redistribution of the peripheral blood supply in the abdominal cavity, crus, finger and head. In regions with normal blood supply level it decreased while in regions with a reduced supply it increased. This redistribution is an important compensatory mechanism of limitation of ischemia in the regions but is worsening the blood supply in all regions in most patients. Pathogenetic treatment of patients with hypertensive disease (grade II) requires individual control of its effect on the central and peripheral hemodynamics and their early correction by adding vasodilating and diuretic agents as well as those improving blood supply of the brain.
