The Candida antigens discussed include whole killed fungi, polysaccharide (mannan) or glycoprotein extracts from the cell walls, glycoproteins from culture media, cytoplasmic extracts from both yeast and mycelial phases, and also proteinases. The possibility of preparing antigens from C. krusei, C. parapsilosis, C. tropicalis or C. guilliermondii, instead of C. albicans, is also discussed. Further work on the standardization of diagnostic preparations for candidosis is envisaged.
