The influence of housing arrangements and production hygiene on meat quality

A review of research into the effects of housing conditions on meat quality is presented. No satisfactory experimental results have been obtained to substantiate the idea that there is some correlation between housing system and meat quality. Factors such as pig raising out of doors, housing temp., feeding systems and intensity were found to affect pig health but this was not necessarily reflected in the meat quality.
