Initial stages of the rat liver ultrastructural rearrangements after local cooling of the liver tissue down to 93 K and 243 K have been studied by means of light microscopic analysis, transmission electron microscopy and freeze-substitution. The main stages in the development of cell dystrophic changes during cryonecrosis formation in the cooled area have been outlined, the crystallization behaviour und cooling conditions studied has been described.
