Influence of the serum of rats subjected to the effects of moderately high temperatures on the immunogenicity of sheep erythrocytes

A study was made of the properties of the blood of rats subjected to the action of a moderately high external temperature (40 degrees C); it was shown that the immunogenicity of sheep erythrocytes increased as a result of treatment with the serum at 37 degrees C. Preliminary incubation of the sera with a polyvalent proteinase inhibitor -- trasilol eliminated this effect completely. Immunogenicity of sheep erythrocytes did not increase with the treatment by the serum at a temperature of 2 degrees C. It can be supposed that the action of the serum of the heated rats was caused by an increase in them of the proteinase activity.
