Adrenal hormones and oxidative metabolism in the liver of Indian garden lizard Calotes versicolor

Administration of adrenaline significantly increased the activities of the enzymes cytochrome oxidase, .alpha. GPDH, and SDH and reduced the mitochondrial and total protein of liver tissue. Administration of hydrocortisone produced a dose-dependent effect on the activities of cytochrome oxidase. .alpha. GPDH and SDH and reduced the total protein, while mitochondrial protein remained unchanged. The significance reduction in the total protein content is probably due to the gluconeogenetic action of the hormone in C. versicolor.
