Taxonomically useful profiles of lactate, malate, glucose-6-phosphate and a-glycerophosphate de-hydrogenases, acid and alkaline phosphatases, and esterase were detected by disc-electrophoreses in whole homogenates of Meloidogyne javanica, M. hapla, M. incognita, M. arenaria, Ditylenchus dipsaci, D. triformis, Heterodera glycines and Aphelenchus avenae. These profiles were stable in populations cultured on several different hosts.
