Disc electrophoresis was used to compare the soluble protein profiles from whole nematode homogenates of Meloidogyne spp. and other nematode genera. Populations of M. javanica, M. incognita, M. arenaria, M. hapla, Heterodera glycines, Aphelenchus avenae, Ditylenchus dipsaci and D. triformis from America, Europe, Africa and Australia were examined. Characteristic profiles were found for some species of Meloidogyne, and Ditylenchus and the genera Heterodera and Aphelenchus.
