Digestion of sarcoma-180 nuclei by DNase-II induced preferential release of transcriptionally active chromatin in the supernatant, whereas pellet retained the inactive chromatin. Spectro-fluorometric studies on the binding of anthracycline antitumour antibiotics, adriamycin and nogalamycin with DNase-II digested chromatin indicate preferential binding of these drugs with transcriptionally active regions of sarcoma-180 chromatin.
