In this article, the synthesis and antihyperlipidemial activities (towards triglycerides, cholesterol and serum total lipid contents) of a series of 2-[4'(1"-carbethoxyisopropyloxy) benzylidene] benzofuran-3-one is reported. Among these compounds, 2-[4'-(1"carbethoxy isoproplyoxy) benzylidene] 7-chloro 4,6-dimethoxy benzofuran 3-one exert a most favorable effect than fenofibrate.
