Comparative immunochemical studies of soluble leukocyte antigens in atherosclerosis of the coronary vessels

The functional state of leukocytes in severe chronic course of coronary atherosclerosis, combined with postinfarction cardiosclerosis, was compared with the state of leukocytes in acute myocardial infarction. Patients with coronary heart disease and acute pneumonia were observed. The chronic course of coronary atherosclerosis is accompanied by substantial changes in the functional state of leukocytes. These changes resemble those in acute inflammatory and destructive processes. Soluble leukocyte antigens were determined in the blood serum and hemolysates of the patients, using immunodiffusion.
