Six lactating Scottish blackface cross ewes suckling nine 14-day-old lambs were inoculated subcutaneously with the virus. They did not transmit the infection to the lambs, although the virus was demonstrated in the milk of five ewes for 3-5 days at maximum titres of 102.4-105.1 pfu/0.2 ml.
