Seven of 198 healthy full-term infants developed cow milk allergy before the age of 5 yr. Their mothers' colostrum had signficantly lower total IgA levels than the colostrum of the other mothers, but the development of other types of allergy was not related to levels of IgA or cow milk antibodies in colostrum or milk.
