Within 18 days after a single, or up to 6 times repeated i/m injections of 0.5-2 mg reserpine. oesophageal ulcers appeared in the oesophageal part of the stomach in 10 of 12 pigs weighing 10-20 kg. Each injection temporarily increased defaecation and urination, and also caused straining, depression and inappetence. The stomach lesions and their histology in pigs killed between the 6th and 18th days are described and illustrated (13 photographs).
