The observed changes of aldolase and pyruvate kinase isoenzymes during hepatocarcinogenesis induced with 2-acetylaminofluorene suggest that these changes are typical of the process of neoplasm development and appear when histological examination does not yet show any malignant transformation. These changes were not found when liver cirrhosis was induced with carbon tetrachloride, a cytotoxic agent. Biochemical studies of changes in aldolase and pyruvate kinase isoenzymes may demonstrate the character of pathological changes in the early stage of their development in the liver.
