Anticonvulsant activity of a plant used in the traditional pharmacopea of Ivory Coast in treatment of epilepsy was measured on mice with classical pharmacology testing. Preliminary investigation with the strychnine test showed a good anticonvulsant activity with water and ethanol extracts from C. ferruginea, Connaraceae. This activity, confirmed by the coramine test and electrical stimulation test, can be compared to phenobarbitone activity.
