The capability of a number of typical and atypical antidepressants to compete with [3H]imipramine for binding with mouse brain synaptic membranes was studied. Unlike chloroimipramine and desmethylimipramine, the derivatives of benzofuran and morpholine have no affinity to imipramine receptors. In this respect pyrazidol occupies an intermediate position. Different action targets of the typical and atypical antidepressants were discussed.
