For 270 days guineapigs were given scorbutogenic diets and 0.5 g ascorbic acid daily by mouth whereas controls got 5 g/kg diet . Food intake and weight curves were almost the same. Triglyceride in blood was 6.4 and 1.7 mmole/litre, respectively. The deprived group had vitamin C contents in plasma and organs 4 to 10% of control values. Concentrations of alpha -tocopherol in liver, lungs and kidneys were about 50% of controls whereas values for plasma and testes were not affected by vitamin deficiency.
