A first group outbreak (involving 4 people) of trichinelliasis caused by home raised and killed pig occurred in the Perm region, USSR in 1979. The disease was severe in only one individual and was successfully treated with mebendazole at 0.1g X 3/day for 10 days, and dexamethazone.
