Pathogenic properties of Mycoplasma bovirhinis

The pathogenic properties of M. bovirhinis (field strain 9K) isolated from the lungs of calves with bronchopneumonia were studied. M. bovirhinis had a cytopathogenic effect on a cow fetus kidney cell culture. M. bovirhinis produced a pronounced lysis effect on the intercellular substance, marginal sites of cytoplasm and on caryoplasm. In calves infected with M. bovirhinis, clinical changes typical of respiratory mycoplasmosis were noted.
