An automated method to detect T. cruzi antibodies is described, using complement fixation with adequate, automated equipment. Serum samples from 55 patients in which T. cruzi antibodies were detected by Almeida's technique for complement fixation and by indirect immunofluorescence test, were studied by this method. This automated technique can be perfectly adapted to serology services in blood banks that aim at eliminating donor transmitted diseases.
