The .alpha.-chain of human fibrinogen has a MW of approximately 65,000, corresponding to about 600 amino acids. The amino acid sequence of most of the previously unreported sections of the human fibrinogen .alpha.-chain is presented and an overall arrangement accounting for the full sequence is proposed. The distinctive character of amino acids found in various sectors and the locations of the 2 principal .alpha.-chain cross-linking acceptor sites are also discussed.
