Synthesis of some quinolines having the thiosemicarbazide and nitrostyryl moieties is described. 8-Nitroquinoline-4-acraldehyde undergoes the Vilsmeier reaction with dimethylacetamide to afford the respective pentadiene amide. Screening of the synthesized quinolines for bactericidal and molluscicidal activities is reported.
