The effectiveness of 11 drugs belonging to the group of 2-benzimidazole carbamates was studied in secondary alveococcosis in white mice. Besides mebendazole, only a possible product of its metabolism, drug G-1029 which is ketone-2-amino-5 benzoyl benzimidazole, was effective. This drug is more toxic than mebendazole. It is suggested that the effect of mebendazole in alveococcosis is due to the presence in its molecule of benzoyl and methylcarbamate groups.
