Mebendazole in the treatment of acute and chronic stages of helminthiases. I. Mebendazole treatment of acute and chronic trichinelliasis caused by Trichinella strains from wild animals

Of 50 patients with trichinellosis, 24 contracted the infection from eating the meat of bear and wild boar and 26 from the meat of pigs which had probably contracted the infection by eating dead wild animals. Mebendazole was highly effective therapeutically and well tolerated and superior to glucocorticoids in treatment of trichinellosis caused by the natural strain of T. spiralis.
