Thiophosphamide derivatives of the Chelidonium majus alkaloids (amitesin, chelidoniumthiophosphamide) and the sum of its alkaloids were studied with respect to their chemotherapeutic efficiency against influenza A virus of the H3N2 antigenic variety. The viral-neutralizing effect of the preparations (in experiments in vitro with subsequent infection of animals) and therapeutic activity relative to influenzal pneumonia of mice were detected. The degree of the antiviral effect depended on the agent infecting dose and time period of the beginning of the treatment. The data obtained suggest the studied preparations to be promising. Further studies in their specific activity are recommended.
