Field trials with Moxnidazole in poultry and pigs

Moxnidazole was tested in field trials as a cure for histomonas infection in poultry (and also for dysentery due to treponema in pigs). The drug was well accepted. The compound was given in drinking water, and if coccidiosis was present it was combined with sulphachlor pyridazin. The dose of moxnidazole was usually about 3 to 20 mg/kg body-weight/day for 3 to 5 days. Clinical improvement could be seen after 1 to 3 days. The results were good especially with the higher doses.
