The results are presented of preliminary field trials in Bahia, Brazil, of slow-release formulations of malathion and chlorpyrifos for the control of triatomine bugs (mainly Triatoma infestans Klug). Although these formulations gave a level of control comparable to that obtained with an application of HCH (BHC), the results did not reflect the excellent performance in the laboratory of slow-release formulations , and technical improvements will be necessary. Work on these is in hand.
