Rumen liquor from sheep on a diet of equal parts lucerne chaff and oats, but fasted for at least 12 h, was incubated with an aqueous sonicated dispersion of tocopherol containing alpha -tocopherol-5-methyl-3H. Radioactivity remaining in unboiled liquor before and after incubation for 4 and 24 h and in boiled liquor after incubation for 24 h was 96 plus or minus 3, 98 plus or minus 2, 94 plus or minus 4 and 94 plus or minus 4%, respectively, indicating that rumen liquor had little effect on the stability and extractability of vitamin E.
