17-Oxosteroids were estimated at intervals during a maximum of 120 days in urine of weanling albino rats given a vitamin E-deficient diet without or (controls) with supplementary vitamin E. Deprived and control male rats excreted similar amounts of 17-oxosteroid during the first 16 days after weaning but thereafter the controls excreted significantly more. Deprived female rats excreted less 17-oxosteroid than did controls from about 14 to 48 days after weaning; thereafter the amount of 17-oxosteroid in urine of deprived females increased to approach that of the control group.
