Treatment of schistosomiasis mansoni with antimony lithium thiomalate

Antimony lithium thiomalate contains 10 mg. per cc. of trivalent Sb. In these expts. 25 patients received 10 injns. of 3 cc. intramusc. every other day. By the end of treatment no living ova were present in the feces. Follow-up examinations at monthly intervals were made on 9 individuals. At the end of 3 mos., 4 patients showed no ova, 2 patients dead ova, and 3 patients living ova. The authors emphasize the importance of follow-up studies in evaluation of drugs. No severe toxic manifestations were observed.
