Fine Structure of Cephalic Sense Organs in Meloidogyne incognita Males

The amphids and the cephalic and labial papillae of males of Meloidogyne incognita are described in detail from studies made by electron microscopy. The results indicate that the amphid is predominantly a large gland that envelops the relatively small sensilla pouch. Comparisons are made between these structures and the amphids of other plant and animal nematode parasites. Males of M. incognita have 6 inner labial papillae and 4 outer cephalic papillae, the former each innervated with 2 cilia, and the latter with one.
