The effect of small doses of ethanol on phases of the heart cycle was studied with the polygraphic method. The isometric myocardial contractility of the left ventrile was reduced, the preejection period prolonged, left ventricular ejection shortened, the contractility index decreased and the relation of the A wave deflection to the height of V-O wave deflection was significantly changed.
